triple in 50 years while the number
of people older than 85, is expected
to grow six-fold. The population of
85 years of age or older use up
twice the hospital care and over 20
times the nursing home care as those
between 65 and 84. |
The aging population requires urgent
need for therapies that improve, restore
or preserve the function of organs and
tissues. Chronic degenerative diseases
lead to a deteriorating quality of life
and increase the cost of patient care.
